Pet Day Care – Do You Need It?
Just What Is Pet Day Care, and Do I Need It?
Continued from our home page, Dog Training Crate
The pet will be provided its own separate sleeping area, feed dishes and pet toys, and most importantly, it is cared for every day just like at home. Time is given for daily grooming, training, play and exercise. Day care is available for pets whose owners want to drop them off in the morning and choose them up in the evening after working hours. Once more, bedding for the pets, pet toys and feeding troughs or bowls are generally provided. While facilities of this sort can be found for many little animals, dogs are the most focus, and several additional facilities for them will be available rather than for other larger animals.
At day care for dogs, the dogs or puppies are cared for by trained professionals, educated in dog behavior, safety and health management. They are groomed and provided coaching by an experienced trainer consistent with their level of knowledge. In most facilities dogs are separated into teams according to each age and size. Because the equipment for little dogs is insufficient for giant ones, whereas giant equipment could overwhelm a tiny dog, this is often terribly important for a pet’s well being. The division is sometimes created at twenty-to-thirty pounds.
Puppies have their own separate space, where they are played with, taught basic training and, simply like a young child, are “potty trained” (or house broken). Plenty of non-public attention is given, again with time scheduled for play and naps. Another trend that is currently sweeping the state is pet spas. These usually cater solely to smaller animals. Here animals can get the same type of elite pampering in a substantially similar manner as we humans get when visiting a spa. Well almost — I don’t think you expect to be walked on a leash when you go to a spa yourself! However, your pets can have all the amenities of a spa with treatments for their fur, paw care, teeth cleaning, etc., in addition to walking, exercising, playing. Your pet may even get a massage (if the facility has the right trained staff). These services, again, can be found for most smaller animals, like cats, rabbits, dogs (of course
, guinea pigs and even some fish, and you may be able to purchase such services on a daily basis or for longer time periods (an over night stay may be obtainable in spas with boarding services).
There’s even a new breed (if you pardon the pun) of Do-it-Yourself pet spas. Here, homeowners are encouraged to groom their pet themselves, nurturing their bond between themselves and their pet. Under these circumstances, the spa may make available a suitable house, and a tub or other basin for washing your pet, the appropriate pet shampoos or conditioners, paw nail clippers and a wide variety of other equipment. Pet spas will be a wonderful treat for pets of all kinds.
